For those just starting out in a new home or condo, blinds are typically a top choice for quickly installing functional window coverings. Blinds also work well as a combination window treatment to serve as light control next to decorative drape panels.
There are several types of blinds. Vinyl blinds are the lowest quality, and are typically installed in new construction. Metal blinds are the next step up, and come in a variety of colors. Faux wood and wood blinds are a great way to upgrade your blinds for a more custom feel.
Whichever blinds best suit your needs, a professional measure and installation is needed to ensure a perfect fit. Since similarly sized window openings are often at least ¼” different from one another in a home, professional measurements provide an exact specification for the blind manufacturer, which will reduce the light gap between the edge of the blinds and the wall.
Shades are a wonderful hard window treatment for keeping a clean, contemporary look to the space, they are low maintenance, and are easy to motorize.
There are many types of shades – from Roman Shades and Roller Shades, or Woven Woods to light filtering shades such as Hunter Douglas Pirouette shades and UV protection screens. Each type of shade has a different strength and design, making shades a highly customizable option.
As is the case with blinds, a professional measurement is needed to ensure your shades will be installed with a perfect fit. Professional installers will adjust the motorization speed of your shades to match one another, will adjust the tension control on the cord (unless you have opted for a cordless shade option), and will make sure any motorization wires are well hidden beneath the fascia, valance, or cassette.
There are many benefits to installing shutters in your home: they offer a beautiful appearance, great resale value, easy maintenance and extra insulation for your home. Shutters can be highly customized to fit many window shapes, and they can be color matched to existing paint, and come in a variety of standard colors.
Since shutters are custom created for each specific window, quality shutter manufacturers require a shutter specialist to both measure and install shutters. Draped will include pricing for a shutter measurements and installations with the pricing of the shutters in our initial proposal.
