Drapery transformation made easy
If you've ever wondered why your space feels a bit lackluster despite having beautiful furniture and decor, consider that your window treatments might be the culprit. Today, we'll gently unpack three common window covering faux pas that prevent your space from earning the well-designed aesthetic that you crave.
The positioning
The most common misstep we see is mounting drapery rods just above the window frame, which can make ceilings appear lower and rooms feel more confined. This placement draws the eye downward, disrupting the vertical flow that contributes to a sense of openness and grace in your living areas.
When we install drapery, we position the rods close to the ceiling. This approach enhances the room's proportions by increasing the perceived ceiling and window height. We also ensure that the drapery, when pulled back, doesn't cover the sides of your window — as this would make your window appear narrower.
Tailored length
Drapes that hover inches above the floor undermine the overall flow of a space. This shortness interrupts the seamless line from ceiling to floor, making the area feel awkwardly proportioned and less thoughtfully composed.
Our tailored solution involves crafting drapery panels that go from ceiling (again, high rod placement) to floor. We measure precisely to account for inconsistencies in ceiling height, especially across larger windows, to achieve this look.
Sufficient fullness
When drapery panels lack volume and hang flat, they appear sparse. This results in a stark, uninviting presentation, particularly in spaces where you seek a layered, comforting aesthetic.
To achieve a more sumptuous look, we use drapery panels that are two to three times the window's width, allowing for natural folds and movement.
